1What is the cost of a taxi from Palma Airport to Alcudia?
Approximately 70 Euros for a 4 seater from the airport, 70 Euros for the return journey. Approximately 95 Euros for a 6 seater from the airport, 90 Euros for the return journey. For larger taxis there is a charge of 10 Euros per additional person over 6. We recommend Fransisca Riera Taxi telephone +34 616 90 95 88. She is always reliable and speaks excellent English.
2How long is the journey from Palma Airport to Port D’Alcudia?
Approximately 45 - 50 minutes.
3How long is the flight to Palma?
The flight from Heathrow or Gatwick is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. It is approximately 30 minutes longer from the north of England or Scotland.
4When can we have access to the apartment on the day of arrival?
Normally you cannot have access to the apartment until after 1pm local time.
5When do we have to vacate the apartment on our last day?
To allow time for the next guests you must vacate it by 11am.
6How far from Apartamentos Carabela is the nearest supermarket?
The nearest supermarket is about 200 metres away in Carrer de Estrella de Mar, opposite Carabela but we don’t really recommend it. There are various mini markets nearby but for value and service we prefer the old-fashioned Spar shop nearer the port, opposite the taxi rank. For a larger choice turn left out of the apartments and walk about 300 metres to Eroski. A few hundred metres further on, by the roundabout, there is a Lidl.
7Can we only book Saturday to Saturday?
I normally only take bookings Saturday to Saturday because otherwise I can end up with “voids”. This particularly applies to the busiest periods (July, August and school half-terms). During quieter periods I can sometimes help with different changeover days.
8What is the full address of the apartments?
Apartamentos Carabela, Carretera de Arta 7, 07410, Port d’Alcudia, Mallorca. My Garmin satnav doesn’t recognise number 7 in C./ Arta so if you have the same problem it is worth trying Avinguda Reina Sofia. Map co-ordinates are N39º50’489”, E003º07’766”
9Is there Wi-Fi in the apartment?
Yes, there is free wi-fi in the apartment. Many bars and restaurants also provide this service.
10Where is the nearest doctor?
There is a Salus 24 Hour Doctor by the Burger Luna snack bar just up from the traffic lights by the Carabela Steak Bar. Freephone in Majorca 900 18 13 40. They are not keen on the EU Form E111. The nearest “NHS” Hospital is in Inca. You must make sure you have full travel insurance.
11Where is the nearest pharmacy?
The nearest pharmacy is next to Benneton by the traffic lights opposite the Carabela Steak house. The next nearest, and our preference, is in Carrer Coral next to Gavin’s Bar. Turn left up C/ Coral before you reach the taxi rank. There is another pharmacy at the far end of the pedestrianised area of the port and there is also a pharmacy in the square in Alcudia Old Town.
12Where is the British Consulate in Majorca?
Plaza Mayor 3D, 07002 Palma de Mallorca. Tel: (0034) 971 712445 Office Hours in Summer: 09:00 - 15:00
13Is Gluten Free and Dairy Free Food Available in Alcudia?
Celiactravel.com shows a very small number of suitable restaurants. We believe that Pierro Rossi on the marina, Moma opposite the taxi rank, C’an Costa in Alcudia old town (San Vicens 14), and Pizzeria Giardino by Alcudia Gardens Hotel all provide gluten free meals. There are undoubtedly more so you should not have many problems. Local supermarkets will have a limited choice of appropriate food. You may want to avoid potential problems by taking some gluten free or dairy free provisions with you.
14Is windsurfing tuition and hire available on Alcudia Beach?
Windsurfing and sailing tuition as well as hire of equipment are available from Wind & Friends who are on the beach directly in front of the Sunwing Hotel.
